About Home Maker Pottery

I create small batch, handmade pottery out of my home studio in northeast Atlanta, Georgia. I use a complex process involving original, had-cut paper designs, underglazes and slip to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

Each piece is thrown by me on a potter’s wheel. Once it is dry enough to handle without leaving fingerprints, it goes back on the wheel for trimming and allowed to dry to a leather-hard stage. This is when the magic happens! After I decorate the surface with slips, underglaze and paper resists, the piece dries completely and is then bisque fired in the kiln. I glaze each one by hand before it is fired again. Finally, I sand and smooth the base, and the work is complete!

I love making unique, functional pottery and believe that each piece is special because it is one-of-a-kind.
